Kotis Design Privacy Policy

Effective 5/21/2019. Kotis Design, LLC (“Kotis Design”) knows that you care how your personal information is used and shared and appreciates your trust that Kotis Design will do so wisely. This Privacy Policy describes how your personal information is collected, used, and shared when you visit, browse or make a purchase from https://kotisdesign.com (the “Site”). The Site includes our subdomains, including but not limited to https://go.kotisdesign.com, https://college.kotisdesign.com, and https://stores.kotisdesign.com.

When you visit the Site, we automatically collect certain information about your device, including information about your web browser, IP address, time zone, and some of the cookies that are installed on your device. Additionally, as you browse the Site, we collect information about the individual web pages or products that you view and/or purchase, what websites or search terms referred you to the Site, and information about how you interact with the Site. We refer to this automatically-collected information as “Device Information.”

We collect Device Information using multiple technologies, like many websites, including the following:

– “Cookies” are data files that are placed on your device or computer and often include an anonymous unique identifier, which we use to help us improve your access to the Site and identify repeat visitors. For more information about cookies, and how to disable cookies, visit http://www.allaboutcookies.org.
– “Log files” track actions occurring on the Site, and collect data including your IP address, browser type, Internet service provider, referring/exit pages, and date/time stamps.
– “Web beacons,” “tags,” and “pixels” are electronic files used to record information about how you browse the Site. This includes Google Analytics and Facebook Pixel, which are outlined in the “Sharing Your Personal Information” section below. Google may provide us anonymized demographic and interest-based information about you, consolidated in reports.

Additionally, if you make a purchase or attempt to make a purchase through our hosted web stores, we collect certain information for fulfilling your order. During the checkout process you are required to enter certain personal information, including your email address, name and shipping address. We collect this information in order to process your order and facilitate the provision and delivery of services by Kotis. This information is only shared with the store platforms we host, not any advertising third parties. We refer to this information as “Order Information.”

We also may track offline sales data if you submit a product quote request (“PQR”) form through our website with your personal information. Additionally, we reserve the right to merge sales data with anonymized browsing data tracked while you are browsing our website.

When we talk about “Personal Information” in this Privacy Policy, we are talking both about Device Information and Order Information.

We use the Order Information that we collect generally to fulfill any orders placed through the Site (including processing your payment information, arranging for shipping, and providing you with invoices and/or order confirmations). Additionally, we use this Order Information to:
Communicate with you;
Screen our orders for potential risk or fraud;
When in line with the preferences you have shared with us, provide you with information or advertising relating to our products or services; and
for other internal purposes.

We use the Device Information that we collect to help us screen for potential risk and fraud (in particular, your IP address), and more generally to improve and optimize our Site (for example, by generating analytics about how our customers browse and interact with the Site, and to assess the success of our marketing and advertising campaigns).

We reserve the right to use information submitted to our website for marketing purposes, including but not limited to email newsletters, sales follow-ups, and re-targeting. Email newsletters will always carry an opt-out link, and we will honor this to our best ability and where legally obligated.

We share your Personal Information with third parties to help us use your Personal Information, as described above. This does not include your Order Information. For example, we use Google Analytics to help us understand how our customers use the Site–you can read more about how Google uses your Personal Information here: https://www.google.com/intl/en/policies/privacy/. You can also opt-out of Google Analytics here: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. Additionally, we may utilize Facebook Pixel to track user acquisition and gather anonymous data to be used for future advertising. For more information on Facebook Pixel privacy, read more here: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/privacy/.

If you are visiting a storefront that we host, our clients may install their own user tracking tools such as Google Analytics for their customer usage statistics. Please see their respective privacy policies.

Finally, we may also share your Personal Information to comply with applicable laws and regulations, to respond to a subpoena, search warrant or other lawful request for information we receive, or to otherwise protect our rights.

As described above, we may use your Personal Information to provide you with targeted advertisements or marketing communications we believe may be of interest to you. For more information about how targeted advertising works, you can visit the Network Advertising Initiative’s (“NAI”) educational page at http://www.networkadvertising.org/understanding-online-advertising/how-does-it-work.

You can opt out of targeted advertising through advertising publishers:

When you submit sensitive information via the website, we take steps to protect your information both online and offline.

For example, wherever we collect sensitive information (such as credit card data), that information is encrypted and transmitted to us in a secure way. You can verify this by looking for a closed lock icon on your web browser or looking for “https” at the beginning of the address of the web page.

Also, while we use encryption to protect sensitive information transmitted online, we also protect your information offline. For example, only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (e.g. billing or customer service) are granted access to personally identifiable information. The servers on which we store personally identifiable information are kept in a secure environment and are hosted and encrypted on third party servers – generally owned and operated by Amazon Web Services, WP Engine, and Google.

Please note that we do not alter our Site’s data collection and use practices when we see a Do Not Track signal from your browser or other similar mechanism.
